Hi PE PLETT rider
Over the last 10 years, PE PLETT has matured into one of South Africa’s top linear stage races. With M&G Investments firmly entrenched as the title sponsor, we at Red Cherry Events are excited to be able to take the 2023 event to new heights.
The route has been “tamed down” over recent years affording riders the opportunity to arrive at the race villages with enough energy to enjoy all the wonderful amenities on offer – from fine dining, a yoga class with Nicola, free beer, and a festive vibe that has become a trademark of this iconic event.
It’s still a serious mountain bike ride, with an average daily distance of 70 kilometers and 1,200 meters of climbing. The easing of the route has attracted more riders to enter the mix and experience the beauty of the mountainous region between Port Elizabeth and Plettenberg Bay.
The M&G Investments PE PLETT is as much about the comradery off the bike as the experience on the bike, with access to tracks that run through many private farms, MTO forests and the sacred trails of Sanparks. As the race continues to grow, we’ve been fortunate to welcome some great new partners on board, which will soon be revealed. This continuous investment has allowed us to offer riders more value as they traverse their way across the scenic Garden Route of South Africa.
The start in a nutshell
Riders arrive at the start venue, Crossways Country Kitchen, on the 22nd of February where we have two pre-event accommodation packages available: the luxury tented package; and the standard tented package.
On the morning of the race, they will be able to grab a breakfast (which is included in the package), load their bags onto the luggage truck and begin their 4-day journey along the beautiful yet equally challenging garden route.
